DELRIN CASE STUDY
Delrin — for Drones
Delrin Gears, Bearings, Propellers and Housings Deliver Reduced Weight and Greater Durability
Drone manufacturers select Delrin for key components that drive precise, reliable motion.
Performance advantages of Delrin:
- Metal alternative for lightweight parts that maintain high strength and impact resistance
- Low noise generation and excellent wear resistance
- Superior fatigue endurance versus other engineering plastics to extend service lives
- Good dimensional stability for accurate fit with other components
- Easy processing by injection molding for mass production
- Low part costs versus metal and composite alternatives
Dynamic COF and Wear Rates: Delrin achieves the lowest wear rate (under 5 mm³/Nm × 10⁻⁶) while maintaining a very low dynamic coefficient of friction (~0.2), significantly outperforming CPOM, PBT, PA66, ABS and PPO.
Flexural Fatigue Strength for 1 Million Cycles: Delrin withstands approximately 30 MPa stress at 1 million cycles, outperforming PBT (~25 MPa), PPO (~20 MPa), and PA66 (~15 MPa). Delrin friction-modified grades also deliver strong performance.
Delrin durability empowers engineers to create innovative solutions across a wide range of applications, pushing the boundaries of design freedom.
